
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department had a sprawling day of operations on Wednesday, March 25, ranging from a pilot-station drug bust to the reopening of a cold-case sexual assault investigation.
According to the latest media reports, officers responded to 17 significant incidents throughout the day, highlighting a busy 24-hour cycle for the department.
Major Investigations & Drug Seizures
The day began with a midnight traffic stop that led to a significant drug investigation.
- Main Street Drug Stop: At 12:38 AM, officers conducted a stop at the Pilot station on E. Main Street. The stop resulted in the seizure of Schedule I or II substances. The investigation into the source of the drugs is ongoing.
- Cold Case Sex Investigation: In the morning, detectives assumed a new investigation into Gross Sexual Imposition involving a victim under the age of 13. The report indicates the alleged abuse occurred between 2013 and 2016 on N. Hickory Street.
- Forgery & Fraud: Officers handled two reports at 28 N. Paint Street—one involving the theft of a vehicle title and another where a woman flagged down an officer to report credit card fraud.
Juvenile & Family Calls
Wednesday saw a high volume of calls involving children and teens across the city:
- Unruly Complaints: Officers were dispatched to Hirn Street and Ewing Street for unruly juvenile reports.
- Disorderly Conduct: A fight or threatening behavior involving juveniles was reported just after 9:00 AM.
- Endangering Children: Late Wednesday night, at 8:58 PM, officers were called to 94 S. Paint Street regarding a child endangering report.
Public Safety & Community Disputes
- Suicidal Subject: Around 10:00 AM, police and emergency crews responded to Floyd’s on E. Second Street regarding a suicidal individual. The investigation into the subject’s well-being continues.
- Kroger Theft: A report of criminal trespass and theft was filed at the N. Bridge Street Kroger shortly before 8:00 PM.
- Domestic Disputes: Police handled a domestic dispute on N. Sugar Street early in the morning that resulted in charges of obstructing official business.
Traffic Enforcement
Officers remained active on the roads, conducting multiple stops for traffic control device violations and stop-sign infractions on N. High St. and N. Mulberry St.
