CHILLICOTHE, OH – July 15, 2025
Chillicothe police are investigating reports of a homeless encampment discovered in the wooded area of Goldie Gunlock Park following concerns from the public.
On the morning of July 15, Officer Joseph Gay responded to the park and found significant debris, including trash and clothing items, strewn across the parking lot. A search of the nearby woods revealed a man, later identified as Dale Mootispaw, who had set up camp in the area.
According to the police report, Mootispaw was informed that camping in city parks is not permitted and was officially barred from accessing any Chillicothe city park properties. He was given 48 hours to dismantle his camp and vacate the area. If he fails to comply, police stated that he could face criminal trespassing charges.
Mootispaw acknowledged the warning and indicated he would comply.
The investigation remains open as authorities continue to monitor the area for further unauthorized activity.
