CHILLICOTHE — A Chillicothe man was taken into custody Saturday, August 30, 2025, after police located a stolen vehicle in a retail parking lot and uncovered suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside.

According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, an officer on patrol received an alert about a stolen 2013 Chrysler 200 traveling northbound on Bridge Street. After checking nearby business lots, the officer found the vehicle parked behind TJ Maxx.

As officers moved in, a man later identified as Raeshan Lynch exited the driver’s side of the car and began walking through the parking lot. He was detained at the scene and read his Miranda rights.

Lynch allegedly told police he had been approached earlier on Water Street by someone identified only as “J,” who offered him the chance to drive the vehicle in exchange for putting gas in it.

A search of the Chrysler uncovered a backpack containing Lynch’s ID, along with several items of drug paraphernalia, a white powdery substance he claimed was baking soda, and multiple rock-like substances believed to be narcotics. Officers also seized four cellphones as evidence.

The vehicle, originally reported stolen through the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, was impounded and returned to its registered owner.

Lynch was transported to the Ross County Jail and charged with receiving stolen property (F4) and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspected narcotics have been sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for testing, and additional charges may follow pending lab results.

The case remains under investigation.
