CHILLICOTHE, OH – A Chillicothe police officer was injured early Sunday morning, June 15, 2025, while arresting a man under the influence of methamphetamine on Olive St. The incident, detailed in police reports released on Monday, June 16, resulted in an assault charge and medical treatment for two officers.
Officers Jonathan Davis and Kyle Curry responded to reports of a suspicious male rolling in the street, finding Walter Davis Jr. lying in the grass. Davis noted Walter’s erratic behavior—sweating profusely, unable to stand still, and mood swings—suggesting methamphetamine use. Even though he had his pants almost off, he was unable to stand still, and his mood seemed to be going from one extreme to another.
As officers moved to arrest him for disorderly conduct and to protect him from harm, Walter resisted, taking a fighting stance. During the police takedown, Walter’s weight landed on Curry’s ankle, breaking his fibula, while Davis injured his knee with an audible pop.

With assistance from other officers, Walter was handcuffed and transported to Ross County Jail, where he was booked on charges of assault and disorderly conduct. Both Davis and Curry were treated and released from Adena Regional Medical Center. The investigation remains ongoing with no further details released.
