CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (August 5, 2025) — A man wanted on multiple warrants, including felonious assault, is facing new charges after leading Chillicothe Police on a dangerous high-speed chase early Monday morning.

The suspect, identified as Darian Detty, is accused of fleeing from officers in a black Ford F-150, reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour during a 17-mile pursuit across Ross County. Police say Detty, who is known to drive the vehicle involved, was positively identified by officers during the incident but managed to escape into a wooded area and remains at large.

Reckless Driving Sparks Pursuit

The pursuit began around 4 a.m. on August 4, when Officer Christian Seymour observed a black Ford F-150 — with Ohio registration KOH9514 — doing donuts in the alleyway behind Chillicothe Spot Free Car Wash at 178 N. Bridge Street.

When Seymour activated his emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the truck, the driver fled north on Bridge Street, then onto U.S. 35 eastbound, accelerating to 97 mph through a construction zone. The suspect then exited onto U.S. 50 and continued east onto Old U.S. 35, reportedly weaving in and out of lanes and crossing into oncoming traffic.

The chase continued onto Vigo Road through Richmondale, where the truck blew through multiple stop signs and sped through a 35-mph zone at over 70 mph. Detty temporarily lost control of the vehicle near Church Street, ending up sideways on a two-lane bridge before continuing to flee.

The truck eventually stopped on W. Junction Road, where the suspect fled on foot. Despite a perimeter being set and a search conducted, officers were unable to locate Detty after he disappeared into nearby woods. A straw hat, believed to belong to him, was recovered near a creek bank.

Fugitive Already Wanted by Police

Officer Donald Arbogast confirmed that the vehicle involved matches the one Detty had been seen driving in previous incidents dating back to October 2024 and May 2025. Detty currently has multiple active warrants, including one for felonious assault through the Chillicothe Municipal Court (CRA2200965).

Charges Pending

Police say warrants will be sought against Detty for fleeing in a motor vehicle and failure to comply with orders of a police officer. Additional charges may be filed based on his dangerous driving and the risk posed to other motorists.

The pursuit spanned approximately 17.76 miles, with speeds topping 105 mph. Weather conditions at the time were clear, and traffic was light.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Darian Detty is encouraged to contact the Chillicothe Police Department or Ross County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
