
CHILLICOTHE, OH – Chillicothe Police officers responded to a trespassing incident at 150 E. 2nd St., the Ross County Health District, on Monday, June 30, 2025, at approximately 7:32 p.m. EDT. The call stemmed from a suspicious person found in the bathroom hours after closing.
Officer James Kight, on patrol, was dispatched after cleaning staff member reported encountering a male sleeping on the bathroom floor. Lowe, who had been in the locked building since the 4:30 p.m. closing, alerted authorities around 7:30 p.m. Kight identified the individual as Shane Seyfang, who claimed he was finishing using the facilities and carried a bag of belongings and a fishing pole. Seyfang claimed he had lost track of time.
Kight detained Seyfang in handcuffs in his cruiser until Health District supervisor arrived. After discussing the situation, they authorized a trespass charge. Seyfang was issued a summons for criminal trespass in lieu of arrest, with a court date set for July 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Chillicothe Municipal Court. He signed the summons, was served a copy, and released with his belongings. No further action is reported.
