Chillicothe and Ross County Law Enforcement Respond to Weekend Surge in Domestic Violence, Disorderly Conduct, and Mental Health Crises

CHILLICOTHE, OH — Law enforcement agencies in Chillicothe and across Ross County had a busy Sunday, May 11, 2025, responding to a wide range of incidents including domestic violence, criminal mischief, drug possession, and multiple mental health emergencies.

Chillicothe Police Department (CPD) Reports:

Chillicothe officers were dispatched to more than a dozen incidents throughout the city:

  • Criminal Mischief & Neighbor Disputes: Officers responded to a vandalism complaint and a separate neighborhood dispute along East Water Street early Sunday morning.
  • Trespassing & Disorderly Conduct: A disturbance at Dick’s Sporting Goods on North Bridge Street resulted in a criminal trespass investigation. Officers also dealt with multiple disorderly individuals, including intoxicated subjects on E. 7th St., E. Main St., and Burbridge St.
  • Domestic Violence & Strangulation: Police responded to two separate cases involving strangulation — one at 36 Cheyenne Dr. and another later in the day on E. Water St., where a woman reported being choked by her son.
  • Animal Complaint: A dog-at-large situation on E. 5th St. resulted in charges related to failure to register a dangerous dog.
  • Traffic Violations & Warrants: A reckless driver on Columbus St. was cited for driving under suspension. Two individuals with active warrants were apprehended — one on E. 2nd St., identified as Frankie Bostwick, and another turned over by the Ohio State Patrol at the Pickaway County line.

Ross County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) Reports:

Deputies also managed several serious incidents across the county:

  • Mental Health Crises: Deputies responded to two separate cases of suicidal individuals, one on Trego Creek Rd. and another on Western Ave. Both resulted in emergency hospitalization for mental health evaluation.
  • Theft & Drug Possession: A motor vehicle theft on Main Street in Frankfort remains under investigation. Later that day, a traffic stop on US-35 led to an arrest for drug possession and an outstanding warrant.
  • Disorderly & Domestic Incidents: Multiple disorderly conduct cases were reported on Pleasant Valley Rd., Discovery Dr., and Challenger Ct. A domestic violence case on Apollo Ln. resulted in a summons being issued after deputies arrived on scene during an active altercation.
  • Fire Response: Deputies also responded to a structure fire in the 8000 block of State Route 180 in Kingston, launching an investigation into the cause.
  • Recovered Stolen Vehicle: A stolen vehicle was located on Western Ave. by Deputies O’Bomsawin and Williamson.

Authorities continue to investigate many of these incidents. Law enforcement agencies are urging residents to report suspicious behavior and to seek help when facing mental health challenges or domestic situations.
