PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH — What began as a terrifying home invasion report Friday afternoon ended with an arrest and suspicions of intoxication rather than gunfire.

Around 3:15 p.m., the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a woman inside a home on the 9700 block of US-22 East, reporting that an unknown man had broken into the residence. The woman, clearly shaken, told dispatchers she was hiding upstairs and that the suspect had claimed he “might have been shot.”

Sheriff’s deputies responded swiftly, but by the time they arrived, the intruder had already fled the home and was located in a neighboring yard. Deputies confronted the man at gunpoint, and he surrendered without incident.

Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined there was no evidence of a gunshot wound. Instead, deputies suspect the individual may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, leading to the chaotic chain of events.

The man was taken into custody, and charges are pending as the investigation continues.

No injuries were reported from the homeowners, and the residents of the home are safe.
