PIKE COUNTY, OH (July 13, 2025) — Authorities in Pike County are actively investigating after a man was found dead inside a vehicle late Sunday afternoon on Progress Drive, just outside the village limits of Waverly off SR-220.
Deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene following reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of an unidentified male inside the car.
The immediate area was cordoned off as law enforcement processed the scene and worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. Detectives and crime scene units have not reelased an official cause of death has not yet been released.
UPDATE – Missing Man Virgil “Dale” Fremder (Montgomery) was last seen on July 7, 2025, at his home on Bailey Chapel Road in Pike County, Ohio was found at the scene in his 2001 black F-150 Lariat truck with a pin stripe. Family members searched for the man when he went missing, as this wasn’t his normal routine. His crash went unnoticed for some time, according to sources.
