Chillicothe — One of two big local used book sales is happening next week. The American Association of University Women is holding their 61st annual event next week.
In addition to the spring book sale of the public library, the fall AAUW event will be October 14-18 in the site of a former drug store, recently Petland, in Central Center.
Tuesday is “First Choice Night” from 4:00 to 8:00 with a $5 entrance fee. Regular prices will be 10am to 8pm Wednesday through Friday. Then from 9am to noon on the last day, Saturday, it will be $1 for each grocery bag of books.

Hear Cheryl Swan and Michael Mankin, co-chairs of the book sale, in their own words below. (Mankin also has a one-man show in the Pump House Center for the Arts this month.)
They could not say how many books were donated – with some donation bins needing to be emptied twice a day – but agreed that it was the usual number, filling an entire shop full of tables.
The sale was traditionally in the Trinity Methodist Church social hall, but is now at 601 Central Center, at the corner of Delano and Mill streets.
