CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man’s quick toss of a beverage can in downtown Chillicothe landed him in more trouble than he probably expected.
On August 9, 2025, a Chillicothe police officer parked on South Watt Street spotted a bicyclist, later identified as William Penrod, casually discard his empty can onto the steps of a building. The officer stopped Penrod to talk about the litter — and ended up finding a bit more than trash.
A check through LEADS revealed Penrod had an active arrest warrant from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. He was promptly taken to the Ross County Jail, served with his warrant, and handed a summons for the littering charge.
Moral of the story: Don’t throw cans — especially if you’re already on the can’t-do list.
