Assaults, Death Investigation, and Multiple Arrests Highlight Busy Day for Chillicothe Police

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (April 7, 2026) — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a wide range of incidents on April 6, including assaults, a non-suspicious death investigation, and multiple arrests, according to the department’s daily media report.

🚨 Early Morning Assault and Warrant Arrest

Officers were first dispatched around 2:56 a.m. to a reported assault on Pine Street, with the case remaining under investigation.

Later in the morning, police served a probation violation warrant after Timothy Hopkins turned himself in at the Law Enforcement Complex. He was booked into the Ross County Jail and is being held pending a court appearance.

⚠️ Death Investigation

At approximately 9:53 a.m., officers assisted the Ross County Sheriff’s Office with a non-suspicious death investigation on Sigler Road. Authorities say the case remains ongoing, though no foul play is suspected.

🚔 Traffic Stops and Violations

Police conducted several traffic-related stops throughout the day, including:

  • A driver cited for operating a vehicle under an OVI suspension on East Water Street
  • A crash on Western Avenue, where a citation was issued for failing to maintain assured clear distance
  • A driver cited for operating a vehicle without a valid license on Jefferson Avenue

⚖️ Assaults, Theft, and Trespassing

Additional incidents included:

  • A second assault investigation on East Water Street
  • A theft report on North Bridge Street stemming from an earlier incident
  • A criminal trespass complaint at a business on North Bridge Street

Police say all cases remain under investigation.

📞 Harassment and Stalking Complaints

Officers also responded to reports of:

  • Telecommunications harassment on West Main Street
  • A stalking complaint at a fitness center on North Bridge Street

👮 Juvenile Warrant and Crash Report

A juvenile warrant was served on East 7th Street, while officers also responded to a non-injury crash and completed a report.
