ASHVILLE, Ohio – The Village of Ashville has relocated Wednesday’s informational meeting on the proposed EdgeConneX data center to a larger space, citing anticipated high turnout

.The open-house style Q&A session will now take place at Teays Valley Middle School East Gym, 655 Viking Way, Ashville, OH 43103, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents may drop in at any time during the two-hour window to review project materials, ask questions, and voice concerns directly to the project team. Light refreshments will be served.

The meeting comes as a grassroots opposition group has rapidly organized under the banner “Protect Pickaway” and “Ashville Strong,” urging residents to attend and wear red to visibly demonstrate unified resistance to the proposed 675-acre data center along State Route 752.

The group warns that the project would require annexing two local farms and could permanently alter the village’s rural character, citing nationwide examples of data centers linked to higher utility bills, water strain, constant noise, light pollution, declining property values, and environmental concerns. Organizers emphasize that once the first facility is approved, additional “clusters” often follow. The opposition is asking for people to wear red to publicly show against.

Opponents are also calling on residents to contact Village Administrator Bert Cline (740-983-6367 opt. 6 or [email protected]) and all council members before Wednesday’s meeting, stressing that village officials have stated social-media comments alone will not be counted as formal opposition.

While the event is hosted by EdgeConneX and village staff, critics caution that the presentation may focus heavily on short-term economic benefits rather than long-term community impacts.
