CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Authorities have identified the man arrested following a chaotic St. Patrick’s Day incident involving bricks being thrown at vehicles on South Brownell Street.

Devan Ward was taken into custody late Tuesday night and is facing multiple charges in connection with the destruction. According to police reports, Ward was one of three individuals spotted by officers in the area of 85 South Brownell Street around 11:20 p.m.

The Incident

Police were dispatched to the neighborhood after receiving frantic reports of three males dressed in all-black clothing throwing bricks at parked cars. Upon arrival, officers attempted to confront the group, leading to a brief struggle.

Ward has been officially charged with:

  • Criminal Mischief: For the property damage caused to local vehicles.
  • Resisting Arrest: Following his attempt to evade or struggle with officers during the apprehension.

Officer Tuttle noted that Ward appeared intoxicated and was uncooperative during questioning. Interestingly, the suspect allegedly left more than just damage behind; the victim found a black iPhone near his vehicle, which Ward later acknowledged belonged to him.

Ward was transported to the Ross County Jail. Information regarding his initial court appearance at Chillicothe Municipal Court is expected to be released later this week.
