CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 19, 2025) – Circleville Elementary School saw an unexpected police response Friday morning after an altercation broke out between adults during student drop-off.
The incident occurred just before 9 a.m. and, according to reports, involved parents and a bus driver. Multiple law enforcement units responded to the school to separate the adults from the children arriving for class.
In a statement, the district described the matter as an “adult experience” and stressed that all students were safe throughout the incident. Officials confirmed that the situation was quickly contained and that police are handling the investigation into the altercation and reported injuries. One person was detained at the time.
In a new statement, the Circleville City Schools has released more information on this morning’s incident: “As students were getting off a district-owned bus, a group of adults approached it and attempted to get children and confront the driver. School administrators stepped in to keep the situation safe, but when the adults didn’t cooperate, a School Resource Officer was called for assistance. The Circleville Police Department was also brought in to help secure the area.
During the incident, one adult had a medical issue, and the Circleville Fire Department EMS responded to provide care. Circleville City Schools reminds the community that Ohio law prohibits unauthorized individuals from getting on a school bus or interfering with public transportation. The district is working closely with local law enforcement, including the Circleville Police Department and the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department, to fully investigate the incident.”
According to several statements from parents that have been given to Sciotopost, several parents showed up at the Elementary school after a FaceTime video was shared. Parents claim that an Elementary bus driver was heard yelling and screaming at the children on the bus, including using profanities. This is what parents say caused them to go to the school to confront the bus driver. This is currently under investigation.
Classes at Circleville Elementary continued as scheduled following the response.
