IRONTON, Ohio — In a transformative move for the Lawrence County economy, Vertiv Corporation announced today a $49.1 million investment to significantly expand its manufacturing footprint in Ironton. The projects are expected to create up to 730 new jobs in the state through 2029 in the global AI data center supply chain.
The expansion, a collaboration between Vertiv, JobsOhio, and Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), will upgrade machinery and add substantial production space to meet the skyrocketing demand for data center cooling and power infrastructure.
Powering the AI Revolution
Based in Westerville, Ohio, Vertiv is a global leader in digital infrastructure. As tech giants race to build “AI factories,” the thermal management and power solutions manufactured right here in Ironton are becoming the backbone of high-performance computing and massive data center operations.
“Ohioans will be on the leading edge of Vertiv’s work to establish and strengthen the AI supply chain,” said Governor Mike DeWine. “This growth is a testament to Ohio’s integral role in the technology industry.”
A 25-Year Partnership Reaches New Heights
Vertiv has been a staple of the Ironton community for a quarter-century. This latest investment marks its most significant expansion to date, positioned to make Vertiv one of the largest manufacturers in the region and a primary supplier for the global data center market.
What this means for Lawrence County:
- 520 New Jobs: Roles will range from mechanical and electrical assembly to quality control, maintenance, and supervisory positions.
- Operational Timeline: The expanded facility is expected to be fully online by Q2 of 2027.
- Workforce Support: Vertiv will utilize the JobsOhio Talent Acquisition program to build sustainable recruitment and training strategies for local workers.
Strategic Support and Funding
The project is fueled by a $3 million JobsOhio Grant and a Job Creation Tax Credit approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. Local leaders emphasized that the “skilled and dedicated” workforce of Southeast Ohio was the deciding factor in Vertiv choosing Ironton over other national locations.
“Expansion of these operations is an investment in Ohio, the community, and our employees,” said Anand Sanghi, President of Vertiv Americas.
Jeremy Clay, COO of the Lawrence Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), noted the historical significance: “This reflects Vertiv’s continued confidence in our workforce… marking a significant milestone for Lawrence County’s economic future.”
