CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — A sea of tiny crowns, colorful dresses and big smiles filled the streets of Circleville Wednesday as 137 young contestants took part in the Little Miss Circleville Pumpkin Show parade and competition.
The girls, each representing a local sponsor, rode through the lengthy parade with hopes of being crowned Little Miss Pumpkin Show during one of the festival’s most cherished traditions.
With 137 contestants and only three spots available, the judges faced a difficult decision. The selection process lasted more than an hour as judges met with the girls, asked questions and carefully considered their choices.
Along the parade route, parents, family members and spectators cheered on the young contestants as they made their way through the celebration.
Although only three girls received the top honors, none of the contestants left empty-handed. Every participant received a special commemorative pin and a photo shoot to remember her experience.
After more than an hour of judging, three young girls were selected to receive this year’s honors.
Mia Hedges was crowned Little Miss Circleville Pumpkin Show queen. Mia is daughter of Colin and Katie Logan Hedges.
Annie Davis was named first attendant, while Lorelei Byers earned the title of second attendant.
The competition was another highlight of the Circleville Pumpkin Show, where generations of families come together each year to celebrate the community’s traditions and create lasting memories.
For the 137 girls who participated, the experience offered a chance to shine, represent their sponsors and enjoy the excitement of being part of one of Circleville’s most beloved annual events.
