CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Local children ages 4 and 5 have a chance to take part in one of the most popular young racers’ events at the Circleville Pumpkin Show, but families need to register before spots fill up.
The 48th annual Pumpkin Show Big Wheel Race, sponsored by the Circleville Noon Rotary Club, is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, at 1:30 p.m. near the Pinckney Street stage in downtown Circleville.
Children must be 4 or 5 years old on race day to participate. All Big Wheels will be provided, so families don’t need to bring their own. Check-in begins at 1 p.m., with the race starting at 1:30 p.m.
The top three finishers will receive trophies and a winner’s T-shirt featuring custom artwork designed by a Circleville High School art student. The trophies also feature locally made ceramic pumpkins.
Registration is required to compete. Parents can sign up their children online by visiting PumpkinShow.com and clicking the Contest Registrations link in the orange banner at the top of the website.
The registration deadline is midnight on Monday, October 19. Organizers have set a maximum of 84 racers, and spots are filling quickly. A standby list will be available in case registered racers do not show up.
For many children, the race will be their first experience driving a Big Wheel, while others practice at home in preparation for the big event.
With the Pumpkin Show bringing thousands of visitors to Circleville, the Big Wheel Race offers local families a chance to make lasting memories and give their youngest racers a moment in the spotlight.
Parents of 4- and 5-year-olds: Don’t wait! Get those little racers registered and ready to roll at this year’s Pumpkin Show!
