CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced plans to conduct an OVI (Operating Vehicle Impaired) sobriety checkpoint in the Circleville area this week to intercept and deter impaired drivers.
In accordance with state policy and legal requirements for public advance notice, the Highway Patrol will disclose the specific county location the day prior to the checkpoint. The exact site and operating hours will be announced on the morning of the operation. Local law enforcement agencies will provide operational support during the checkpoint to assist state troopers.
“If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink,” state troopers advised in a public warning. “Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.”
Motorists who observe impaired or reckless driving on Ohio roadways are urged to call #677 to connect directly with the nearest Highway Patrol post.
