ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A 53-year-old Ross County man was arrested Saturday after deputies responded to a reported disturbance involving gunshots at a residence on Vigo Road.

According to information from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to 3839 Vigo Road after a caller, reportedly the man’s mother, said she heard possible gunshots coming from a trailer behind her residence.

Deputies established verbal contact with the man, identified as John Swackhammer, 53, who was reportedly standing on the porch. Authorities described Swackhammer as uncooperative during the initial contact.

Swackhammer was arrested and charged with:

  • Using weapons while intoxicated
  • Obstructing official business
  • Improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation

The incident remains subject to the official investigation and court proceedings.
