CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Families will have the opportunity to experience local history in a unique way later this month as the Ross County Historical Society hosts its annual “Evening at the Museum” on Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ross County Heritage Center, 45 W. Fifth St.

Inspired by the excitement of exploring a museum after hours, the free event will transform the Heritage Center into an interactive adventure featuring hands-on activities, a museum-wide scavenger hunt, and encounters with historical characters portraying different periods of Ohio’s past.

Designed with children and families in mind, the event encourages young visitors to learn about Ross County’s rich history through games, exploration, and engaging personal interactions that bring the past to life.

Admission is free, but organizers encourage families to reserve their spots in advance by calling 740-772-1936 or visiting the Ross County Historical Society’s website.

Children enrolled in the Historical Society’s Junior Membership program will receive a special souvenir pin and a snack during the event. Junior memberships are available for $10 per year, offering young history enthusiasts exclusive benefits while supporting the organization’s educational programs.

For additional information or to make a reservation, contact the Ross County Historical Society at 740-772-1936.
