ORIENT, OH — A 22-year-old woman has been flown to a Columbus trauma center with serious injuries following a freak accident at Split Rock Golf Course on Monday afternoon.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the course, located at 10210 Scioto-Darby Road, at approximately 3:20 p.m. Initial reports indicate that a large tree suddenly fell, striking a golf cart near the 11th hole and pinning the young woman inside the vehicle.
First responders worked quickly at the scene to extricate the victim from the wreckage. Due to the severity of her injuries, a MedFlight helicopter was requested and landed directly at the golf course to expedite transport.
The woman was airlifted to a Columbus critical care hospital. Her identity and current medical condition have not yet been released.
