CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 9 is inviting residents to weigh in on a proposed infrastructure overhaul at a key rural intersection in Liberty Township.
The project aims to realign the intersection of County Road 213B (Musgrove Road) and County Road 213A (Lancaster Road). In addition to the new road layout, the plan includes the full replacement of the bridge over the CSX Transportation Railroad on Musgrove Road.
Project Impact and Right-of-Way
According to ODOT’s Environmental Office, the project is designed to minimize ecological disruption, with no local streams expected to be impacted. However, the realignment will require the acquisition of land:
- Permanent Right-of-Way: Approximately 2.06 acres of residential lawns and agricultural fields.
- Temporary Right-of-Way: Roughly 0.68 acres for construction access.
Crucially, officials confirmed that no homes or businesses will be removed to make way for the improvements.
Construction Closures and Detours
Drivers in the area should prepare for significant travel changes. The roadway will be closed for the duration of the project, with ODOT proposing two primary detour routes:
- 13-Mile Detour: Musgrove Road to Vigo Road to U.S. 50 to Old Route 35.
- 10-Mile Detour: Musgrove Road to Vigo Road to Old Route 35.
Timeline and Funding
The project is supported by a mix of federal, state, and local funding. The environmental commitment is slated for July 2027, with the construction contract currently expected to be awarded on January 1, 2029.
