ASHVILLE, Ohio — A 36-year-old Ashville man is behind bars after being charged in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 5-year-old child, according to authorities.
Investigators say the case came to light after the child disclosed the alleged abuse to a grandfather, who then reported the information to law enforcement. Police began an investigation that included a medical examination of the child.
Following that examination, Brian McBride was arrested and charged with rape, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition.
McBride is currently being held in the Pickaway County Jail without bond. Court records indicate he is scheduled to appear in court next week.
Officials have not released additional details at this time due to the age of the victim and the ongoing nature of the case.
