Chillicothe & Ross County — The first concert for the “Chillicothe Community Orchestra” featured four selections for strings in their inaugural performance at the Chillicothe High School Auditorium on Monday evening.
Founded by the Orchestra Director for Chillicothe Schools, Kyndal Preston, 23 musicians – students from CHS, Unioto, and adults of all ages – performed Bach, Dvorak, and more on April 20th, 2026.

Preston said she started a group lessons program last summer, then started a concert cycle in October. This was their first public performance, and she announced the next one will be at the end of summer, in the second or third week of August.
She will continue group lessons through the summer, and also says she would love to have fall and Christmas concerts. She also would like to add winds and percussion in the future.
Preston said about half of the orchestra members are adults – and that students from all schools are welcome, but so far only those from the two schools in the county with orchestras have been in the performances.
She does not have social media up for the orchestra yet, and can be contacted through her personal Facebook page. Hear her in her own words below.
And although the performance was not officially recorded, there should be a few video posts by proud parents, family, and friends.
