Chillicothe Police Blotter: Evidence Tampering Arrest and Sexual Imposition Investigation Highlight Friday’s Calls

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department handled 17 reported incidents on Friday, April 10, ranging from felony investigations and arrests to fraudulent invoices and unruly juvenile complaints.

Traffic Stop Leads to Evidence Tampering Arrest

In the early morning hours, a routine traffic stop evolved into a criminal arrest. At 2:27 AM, officers pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of S. Bridge and E. 7th Streets for an improper turn and failure to signal. During the encounter, a suspect was taken into custody and charged with Tampering with Evidence. At nearly the same time, another arrest was made on N. Paint Street involving an outstanding warrant.

Major Investigations: Sexual Imposition and Fraud

Two serious investigations were initiated by detectives Friday afternoon:

  • Gross Sexual Imposition: At 4:53 PM, officers met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Complex regarding a sexual offense involving force alleged to have occurred on Loganview Drive. A formal report was taken, and the case remains active.
  • Telecommunications Fraud: Earlier in the day, at 7:37 AM, police began looking into a fraudulent invoice sent to the Ross-Pike ESD on Western Avenue. Authorities confirmed that no financial losses were reported, but they are working to trace the source of the scam.

Theft and Shoplifting Reports

Theft complaints were scattered across the city throughout the day:

  • Walmart Shoplifting: Officers responded to the River Trace Lane Walmart at 12:32 PM for a shoplifting report.
  • Neighborhood Thefts: Theft calls were logged on Hirn Street (1:32 AM), Fleet Street (1:18 PM), and at McArthur Gardens on Columbus Street (6:02 PM).
  • Nancy Wilson Way: A theft complaint was also filed late Friday night at an apartment on Plyles Lane.

Accidents and Roadway Safety

  • N. Bridge & E. 2nd: A two-vehicle, non-injury accident occurred at 5:04 AM. Officers completed a crash report on the scene.
  • S. Bridge Street: A second accident was reported at 5:29 PM involving a “Right of Way” violation at an intersection.
  • Motorcycle Enforcement: A traffic stop on N. Walnut Street resulted in a citation for a rider operating without a motorcycle endorsement.

Disturbances and Juvenile Complaints

Officers responded to Sherman Park at 3:54 PM for a disorderly conduct complaint, which remains under investigation. Additionally, police were called to Mohawk Drive at 4:39 PM regarding an unruly juvenile.
