LANCASTER, Ohio — Three people, including an infant, were killed in a house fire early Wednesday morning in Lancaster, according to authorities.

Firefighters with the Lancaster Fire Department were dispatched around 1:05 a.m. to a home in the 600 block of East 5th Avenue, located in an alley near the intersection of Sixth and Madison avenues.

When crews arrived, they found a fire at a residence that had been divided into two units.

Officials confirmed that three people died in the fire. Family members identified the victims as a father, mother, and their nearly 9-month-old baby.

Two others were rescued from the home, including the couple’s 5-year-old child and a woman who lived in the second unit. Both survivors were treated at the scene and later released.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
