CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department responded to a variety of incidents across the city on March 31, including thefts, a drug trafficking investigation, and multiple traffic crashes.
The day began just after midnight when an officer conducted a traffic stop near South Hickory Street and East 5th Street, issuing citations related to a stop sign violation and a driver’s license suspension.
Later in the morning, officers were dispatched to West Main Street for a reported theft from a motor vehicle. That case remains under investigation. Police also responded to a domestic dispute on Devon Road, which is being investigated as a disorderly conduct incident.
Additional theft-related calls were reported throughout the day. Officers investigated a shoplifting complaint on River Trace Lane and responded to a theft in progress at the Dollar General on East Main Street, where the suspect is also accused of criminal trespass and drug possession.
In the afternoon, police responded to a crash at the intersection of North Bridge Street and East Main Street. Authorities say one driver failed to stop in traffic, rear-ending another vehicle. The driver was cited for assured clear distance ahead and driving under suspension, and was also unable to provide proof of insurance at the scene.
Investigators also opened a drug trafficking case involving suspected cocaine activity on North Paint Street. Details of that investigation have not yet been released.
Other notable incidents included a report of identity fraud on Beechwood Street and a protection order violation complaint on Jefferson Avenue.
Police also handled a hit-skip crash, as well as a late-night theft without consent reported near East Main and Goff streets.
The day concluded with officers responding to a disorderly conduct call involving fighting or threats on North Bridge Street just before midnight.
In total, officers handled 13 incidents throughout the day, with several investigations ongoing.
