CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department handled a busy slate of calls on Monday, March 30, 2026, ranging from early morning trespassing to a late-night OVI arrest following a hit-skip.

OVI and Hit-Skip Arrest

Late Monday night, officers were dispatched to the Sherman Park area following reports of a reckless driver involved in a private property hit-skip. Police successfully conducted a traffic stop at approximately 10:16 p.m. An arrest was made for OVI, with the suspect reportedly refusing a chemical test and having a previous conviction on their record.

Retail and Property Crimes

Local retailers were a primary focus for patrols throughout the day:

  • Western Avenue Trespassing: At 4:25 a.m., officers responded to Kroger at 1165 Western Ave. Management requested that a suspicious male be contacted and officially barred from the premises.
  • River Trace Lane Thefts: Police were called twice to the River Trace Lane business district. A shoplifting report was filed at 11:58 a.m., followed by a second theft report at the Walmart location at 4:08 p.m. Both cases remain under investigation.
  • Consumer Center Drive: A report of larceny was filed at 3:03 p.m. regarding a theft at Consumer Center Drive.
  • King Street: Just after 10:00 p.m., officers investigated a report of theft without consent at a residence on King Street.

Traffic and Public Safety

  • Speedway Crash: At 5:27 p.m., officers responded to the Speedway on East Main Street following a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of E. Main and S. Renick Ave. One driver was issued a citation for ACDA (Assured Clear Distance Ahead).
  • Assault/Disorderly Conduct: Officers responded to a report of an assault at 395 E. 2nd Street at approximately 7:53 p.m. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Juvenile Complaint: A report of an unruly juvenile was filed following a call to W. Main Street and N. Paint Street during the afternoon hours.
