Two people were injured Saturday evening following a high-speed motorcycle crash in Harrison Township, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the crash occurred around 8:08 p.m. on March 21 along U.S. Route 23 near Lockbourne. A red Kawasaki motorcycle traveling northbound at what authorities described as an excessive rate of speed lost control and veered off the roadway to the left.

Investigators report the motorcycle traveled approximately 285 feet through the median before striking a culvert. The impact launched the bike into the air, where it traveled an additional 185 feet before hitting the ground. The motorcycle then rolled multiple times before coming to rest in the median.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Chase D. Ryan of Lancaster, and his passenger, 19-year-old Payton Katherine Elaine Wince of Washington Court House, both sustained injuries. They were transported by EMS to Grant Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities cited Ryan for failure to drive in marked lanes and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

The crash remains under investigation.
