
CHILLICOTHE — Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department responded to a wide range of calls on February 26, 2026, including juvenile curfew violations, a drug-related arrest, a non-suspicious death investigation and multiple traffic incidents.
Just after midnight, officers conducting a traffic stop near North Bridge Street observed three juveniles standing nearby past curfew. The incident, which also involved a charge of obstructing official business, remains under investigation.
Around 2:35 a.m., police were dispatched to South Sugar Street in reference to a reported dog bite. The case was listed as non-criminal, though documentation of the incident was taken.
Later in the morning, an officer received a screened-out referral from Ross County Job and Family Services regarding a non-criminal matter. That case remains open.
Detectives also opened an investigation into a theft by deception/shoplifting case reported on River Trace Lane. The complaint involves a previously reported, or “cold,” theft. The investigation is ongoing.
Police handled several court- and warrant-related matters throughout the day, including a requested transport from Chillicothe Municipal Court and warrant reports on North Paint Street and North Bridge Street. One warrant-related call at OhioHealth on North Bridge Street stemmed from a trespass complaint and remains under review.
A criminal mischief complaint was taken on West Seventh Street late in the morning, while officers were also called to Woodbridge Avenue for a suspicious person report.
Shortly after noon, police responded to Western Avenue for a driver cited for driving under suspension related to child support or unpaid fines. A separate non-injury traffic crash was also reported.
At approximately 4:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walnut Hills Apartments on Walnut Hills Drive for a reported disorderly incident that resulted in a criminal trespass investigation.
About 25 minutes later, a traffic stop on Gilmore Street led to an arrest for possession of drugs and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.
In the evening, officers were called to East Fifth Street for a report of a deceased individual. The death was determined to be non-suspicious.
Police also responded to a crash at Yoctangee Parkway and North Street, where a driver was cited for assured clear distance ahead. The crash remains under investigation.
The final call of the night resulted in a traffic citation for expired plates on Consumer Center Drive just before midnight.
In total, the department logged 16 reports during the 24-hour period, with several investigations continuing.
