
Chillicothe police handled a variety of calls Tuesday, including multiple traffic stops for texting while driving, a reported theft, two crashes and a non-suspicious death, according to the department’s daily media report.
Warrant Arrest
Shortly after 1:30 a.m., an officer on patrol near East Second and Mosher streets initiated contact with a man who matched the description of someone with an active warrant. The incident remains under investigation.
Multiple Texting-While-Driving Stops
Throughout the morning and early afternoon, officers conducted several traffic stops for alleged texting while driving violations. Stops were reported on East Water Street near Bridge Street, North Bridge Street, Riverside Street near Bridge Street and East Water Street near Hickory Street.
Theft Reported on North Bridge Street
At 9:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of North Bridge Street for a reported theft that occurred over the weekend. No additional details were released.
Domestic Dispute on East Second Street
Around 12:31 p.m., police responded to 626 E. Second St. for a reported domestic dispute. The case involves allegations of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. The investigation is pending.
Welfare Check Results in Unattended Death
At approximately 3:52 p.m., officers conducted a welfare check at an apartment in the 500 block of West Fifth Street. Police reported the death as non-suspicious. No further information was immediately available.
Crash on West Water Street
At 4:16 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at West Water Street and Yoctangee Parkway. Betsy Bray was cited for failure to control her vehicle and issued traffic citation No. 57628. She is scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court at 9 a.m. March 2.
Failure to Yield Crash on East Main Street
Police also investigated a crash at 6:42 p.m. near 10 N. Bridge St. According to the report, Joanna Tackett was attempting to turn left from a private drive at Speedway when she failed to yield to eastbound traffic, striking a vehicle driven by David Ball.
Tackett was cited for failure to yield from a private drive and issued citation No. 57939. She is scheduled to appear in Chillicothe Municipal Court at 9 a.m. March 9.
Other Incidents
Officers also responded to:
- A parking complaint on South Paint Street.
- A family-related dispute involving mail at the Law Enforcement Complex on South Walnut Street.
- A reported menacing complaint on Piatt Avenue.
- A criminal trespass and behavioral emergency call at Central Center.
In total, the department logged 15 incidents on Feb. 24. Investigations in several cases remain ongoing.
