
GROVEPORT, Ohio — One person was killed Monday afternoon following a crash involving a motorcycle and a Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) bus in Groveport, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:07 p.m. on Rohr Road near Gateway Court. Investigators said a 2020 Yamaha MT-09 motorcycle was traveling westbound on Rohr Road as a COTA bus was turning east onto Rohr Road from Gateway Court.
During the turn, the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the bus, authorities said. Following the impact, the motorcycle caught fire.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released. The bus driver was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The bus had one passenger onboard at the time of the crash, who was not injured.
