Columbus, Ohio — An Ashville man was killed Tuesday morning in a high-speed crash on northbound U.S. Route 23, according to Columbus Police Department reports.

The victim, identified as Sean Kenneth Moore, 34, of Ashville, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:57 a.m. on December 30, 2025. Police say Moore was driving a black 2017 Audi A4 northbound on US-23 when his vehicle struck the right rear of a 2023 white Freightliner semi-truck tractor-trailer. The semi was also traveling northbound at an estimated 35 mph in the area near London-Groveport Road.

After the impact, the Audi veered off the right side of the roadway and slid into a wooden fence. The collision caused disabling damage to the Audi, which required extrication by Hamilton Township Fire Department Medic 172 and Columbus Fire Heavy Rescue units. The driver of the semi-truck, 54-year-old Theophile Cesaire C. Traore of Whitehall, was uninjured.

Conditions at the time were daylight with cloudy skies and dry roads. The posted speed limit is 50 mph, but investigators estimated Moore’s speed at approximately 80 mph. Contributing circumstances were listed as “not discernible.”

The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit processed the scene, with assistance from the Franklin County Coroner’s Office. A witness video of the incident was provided to detectives.

Northbound US-23 was closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
