Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Investigation
At 2:29 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a gray Dodge Charger on Lille Street. The driver is being investigated for possession of a Schedule I or II substance. The case remains under review.
Disorderly Complaints on Carlisle Place
Officers were called to Carlisle Place twice:
- 2:46 a.m. — A disorderly complaint was reported, but no crime was found and involved parties voluntarily separated.
- 8:05 a.m. — Police responded to a 911 text from a resident requesting help. That incident also remains under investigation.
Possible Burglary Reported on North Walnut Street
At 4:28 a.m., officers responded to 97 1/2 N. Walnut St. for a reported burglary. The incident is being investigated as criminal trespass.
Vandalism on East 4th Street
A caller reported vandalism at 721 E. 4th St. around 10:25 a.m. Officers documented the damage and are continuing the investigation.
Warrant Arrest at Ross County Jail
At 10:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ross County Jail to take custody of a wanted individual.
Suspicious Package on Jackson Avenue
A resident at 205 Jackson Ave. reported a suspicious package around 11:17 a.m. Officers determined there was no criminal activity involved.
Crash and Medical Call on North Bridge Street
Police handled several calls in the North Bridge Street area:
- 11:27–11:47 a.m. — A failure-to-control crash occurred. A crash report was taken.
- 11:58 a.m. — Officers responded to the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Metzger Avenue after a report of a male not breathing.
Trespassing Complaint at America’s Best Value Inn
At 1 p.m., police were called to 1135 E. Main St. for a trespassing complaint. The case remains under investigation.
Identity Theft Concern Reported
At 3:05 p.m., Steven Axe reported receiving an unexpected credit denial letter. He fears someone may have attempted to use his personal information. Axe also reported prior damage to his business mailbox. He has contacted the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Police are treating the matter as non-criminal unless evidence of fraud emerges.
Theft at McDonald’s on North Bridge Street
A theft was reported at 1080 N. Bridge St. at 3:09 p.m. Officers are investigating.
Warrant Arrest on Columbus Street
At 4:32 p.m., officers located Lee Stephens, who had an active warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Ross County Jail to serve 144 days stemming from a probation violation related to drug instruments.
Vehicle Crash on Adams Avenue
At 5:17 p.m., officers responded to a failure-to-control crash on Adams Ave. A crash report was completed.
Stop-Sign Crash on North Hickory Street
At 5:57 p.m., a juvenile driver ran a stop sign at Water St. and Hickory St., striking another vehicle. The teen, who had only a learner’s permit, was cited. No severe injuries were reported.
Reckless Driver Reported at Dairy Queen
At 6:22 p.m., police responded to Dairy Queen on N. High St. after a report of a reckless driver. The case remains open.
Pedestrian Struck on Private Property
Also at 6:22 p.m., officers responded to Home Buys on N. Bridge St. where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on private property. A private-property crash report was filed.
Threats Complaint at Sherman Park
At 7:29 p.m., officers responded to a threats complaint on Sherman Park. The case is under investigation.
Shoplifting at Dollar General
At 7:45 p.m., police were called to Dollar General on E. Main St. for a reported theft involving deception. Investigators are reviewing the case, which also includes a criminal trespass complaint.
