Gamestop is taking trade-ins to a whole new level. On December 6, 2025, the video game retailer will host its first-ever “Trade Anything Day,” allowing customers to trade almost any item for store credit. While GameStop is traditionally known for video game and gaming merchandise trade-ins, this special event expands the offerings to include crafts, artwork, and even taxidermy—provided items fit within a 20x20x20 box.
The retailer has not yet disclosed whether members of its GameStop Pro loyalty program will receive different trade-in values, but more information is expected as the event approaches.
However, there are several restrictions on what can be traded. Items not accepted include:
- Hazardous materials, chemicals, or liquids
- Lithium-ion batteries or items containing them
- Weapons and ammunition
- Animals, living or deceased (except taxidermied)
- Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or pharmaceuticals
- Most computers (with some MacBooks accepted)
- Certain electronics, like VCRs, DVD players, scanners, and projectors
- Gift cards
- Sexual or explicit items
- Anything resembling body parts
Additionally, GameStop employees reserve the right to refuse any trade-in at their discretion.

This one-day event gives customers a chance to declutter and receive store credit for items that may otherwise sit unused—making it a unique opportunity for gamers, crafters, and collectors alike.
