The Well Being Foundation, formerly known as the Berger Health Foundation, has
announced a generous grant of $50,000 to the Pickaway County Pickleball Association
(PCPA) to support the renovation of pickleball courts at Barthelmas Park. This vital
funding will help transform two temporary courts into permanent courts, keeping pace
with the increasing popularity and demand for pickleball in the community.

The Pickaway County Pickleball Association, collaborating closely with both the
Circleville City Park Board and the Circleville Planning Department, was selected for the
Well Being Foundation’s grant after responding to a request for proposals distributed
earlier this year. Out of 12 submissions received and reviewed by the Foundation’s
Board, the PCPA’s proposal stood out for its dedication to expanding access to
recreational facilities and fostering community health.

Barthelmas Park currently features two permanent and two temporary pickleball courts.
Thanks to this grant and additional community funding, the city of Circleville will
renovate and convert the temporary courts into permanent courts, greatly improving
access for residents and supporting the sport’s growth in Pickaway County.

With a mission to “Enhance the overall well-being of the Pickaway County community,”
the Well Being Foundation has been a driving force for positive change. Originating as
the Berger Health Foundation, the organization was reorganized in 2019 as part of the
OhioHealth agreement with Berger Hospital and continues to operate as a 501(c)(3).
Since 2020, the Foundation has awarded over one million dollars in grants to Pickaway
County nonprofits, frequently partnering with the Pickaway County Community
Foundation to maximize impact.
