LOGAN, OH — The former owner of a Hocking Hills rental cabin has been sentenced to six to nine years in prison after pleading no contest to felony charges stemming from hidden cameras in his property’s bathroom.
Jason Yard, 38, of Akron, had purchased and installed a camera in the bathroom of the Sly Fox Lodge Cabin at 8845 State Route 664 North, capturing videos of dozens of guests, including 13 children. Yard had owned the property since 2019.

Yard had initially faced multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including four felony counts of illegal use of nudity-oriented material involving a minor and two misdemeanor voyeurism charges. In October 2025, he entered a no contest plea to one felony count of illegal use of nudity-oriented material involving a minor, resulting in the dismissal of the remaining charges.
Court documents show that prosecutors and defense attorneys jointly recommended a four- to six-year prison term, but the judge imposed a higher sentence of six to nine years, citing the severity of the crime and its impact on victims. Yard is also required to register as a Tier 2 sex offender for 25 years.
The case began in February 2024, when a guest, Alyssa Bradds, discovered the camera hidden above the toilet in the downstairs bathroom. Deputies from the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the camera was aimed toward the shower and equipped with a wireless transmitter.
Investigators later recovered digital files showing Yard adjusting the device, along with backups containing explicit videos of at least 49 adults and 13 children, totaling roughly 170 files entered into evidence.
The case has been described by law enforcement as one of the most disturbing in recent memory, highlighting increasing concerns about privacy and surveillance in short-term vacation rentals.
