COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Milvets organization announced that its annual Veterans Day celebration — one of the largest in the state — will take place Sunday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in downtown Columbus.
Sponsored by the Franklin County Commissioners and Columbus City Council, this year’s event replaces the traditional Veterans Day Parade with the second annual Veterans Rally, moving all activities inside the museum to create a more engaging and family-friendly experience. The formal program will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Organizers say the rally is designed to bring together veterans, their families, and the community to honor military service while providing resources, entertainment, and historical exhibits. A free lunch — inspired by meals served during the Civil War era — will be provided to attendees.
The celebration will feature free admission to the museum, free parking, and numerous information booths from organizations such as the VA, Honor Flight, Legal Aid, and local veterans’ groups. Visitors can also take part in special activities, including face painting, a “make-your-own dog tag” station, and a magic show every hour.
A military band performance, horse therapy demonstrations, and Santa and Mrs. Claus’s first Columbus appearance of the season are also scheduled. Guests are encouraged to bring a new toy for children in need.
The Milvets Veterans Day Columbus & Franklin County Celebration – Veterans Rally will be held at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, located at 300 West Broad Street, across from COSI.
