LEWISTON, ME — After more than two centuries of guiding readers through the rhythms of nature and life, the Farmers’ Almanac has announced that its 2026 issue will be its last, officially bringing an end to a 208-year publishing legacy.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the end of what has not only been an annual tradition in millions of homes and hearths for hundreds of years, but also a way of life,” said Editor Sandi Duncan. “The wisdom of generations past has always been the key to the generations of the future.”

Founded in 1818, the Farmers’ Almanac became famous for its long-range weather forecasts, practical advice, and homespun wisdom on everything from gardening and farming to folklore and astronomy. Its distinctive blend of science, tradition, and community spirit made it a fixture in rural households and beyond.

Despite its enduring popularity, Duncan said financial challenges in the modern media landscape made it impossible to continue producing and distributing the publication. “We are incredibly proud of the legacy we leave behind and grateful to our loyal staff, readers, contributors, and partners who have supported us through the years,” she said. “Though the Almanac will no longer be available in print or online, its spirit will live on in the values it championed — simplicity, sustainability, and connection to nature.”

The final Farmers’ Almanac — the 2026 edition — is now available on Amazon and in retail stores nationwide. Digital archives and online access will remain active until December 2025, marking the close of one of America’s longest-running publications.
