CINCINNATI, OH / SAN FRANCISCO, CA — November 4, 2025 — The Kroger Co. and Instacart have announced an expanded partnership aimed at enhancing the online grocery shopping experience through artificial intelligence and faster delivery.
The collaboration will reaffirm Instacart as Kroger’s primary delivery fulfillment partner, powering delivery from nearly 2,700 stores across more than 20 banners nationwide. The companies say the move will increase efficiency, speed, and personalization for customers using Kroger.com and the Kroger app.
As part of the expansion, Kroger will become one of the first retailers to introduce Instacart’s new AI “Cart Assistant” — an in-app feature designed to simplify meal planning and shopping. The tool will help customers build grocery lists, find meal inspiration, and plan weekly menus, all through a conversational AI interface.
“Agentic shopping has the potential to change the way American families shop and eat,” said Yael Cosset, Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for Kroger. “This partnership makes grocery shopping easier and more enjoyable, helping families save both money and time.”
Instacart CEO Chris Rogers echoed that sentiment, calling Kroger “one of our most deeply integrated partners.” Rogers said the partnership allows both companies to “power the new AI capabilities that will shape the future of how Kroger customers shop.”
The companies also announced an expansion of Kroger’s Express Delivery, bringing fresh groceries, ready-to-heat meals, and last-minute essentials to more customers — often within 30 minutes.
Since launching their partnership in 2017, Kroger and Instacart have worked together on multiple innovations in grocery retail, including AI-powered Caper Carts, fuel-points integration, and advanced digital marketing solutions.
Both companies say the expanded partnership will continue to drive innovation, increase accessibility, and deliver greater convenience to millions of households across the U.S.
