GROVE CITY, OH — A Grove City police officer is recovering in stable condition after being shot Tuesday evening during a confrontation with an armed suspect who was later killed.
According to Grove City Police, officers were called to 3810 Louise Court around 5:15 p.m. on October 8, 2025, for a reported burglary in progress. The homeowner told dispatchers that a man armed with a gun had entered the residence.
When officers arrived, they surrounded the home and repeatedly ordered the suspect to surrender. The suspect instead barricaded himself inside, prompting the department’s Strategic Response Team (SRT) to respond to the scene.
After several hours, at approximately 8:37 p.m., the suspect fled the residence on foot. During a brief chase, police say the suspect fired his weapon, striking one Grove City officer. Officers returned fire, hitting the suspect.
Both the injured officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital. Police confirmed late Tuesday night that the officer is in stable condition, while the suspect was pronounced deceased.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
Grove City Police are asking any residents with surveillance footage from the area to contact the department’s investigations bureau at 614-277-1710.
