CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Circleville Eagles have once again shown their commitment to supporting veterans, donating to the Eyes of Freedom: Lima Company Memorial, a traveling tribute that will return to the 2025 Circleville Pumpkin Show.

The donation, presented this week, helps ensure the memorial’s continued presence at the annual event — a powerful reminder of sacrifice and service. Sean, a representative of the Eyes of Freedom team, accepted the check from the Eagles, with the group posing in front of the 2024 Eyes of Freedom flag.

“Thank you to the Circleville Eagles for their ongoing generosity and for helping keep this memorial visible to the community,” organizers said.

The Eyes of Freedom: Lima Company Memorial features eight life-size canvases painted by Ohio artist Anita Miller, depicting the 23 Marines and one Navy Corpsman of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment (L3/25) — an Ohio-based unit that suffered devastating losses during its 2005 deployment in Iraq.

Each portrait is accompanied by a pair of combat boots, many of which belonged to the fallen, and a lit candle. Visitors often leave notes, medals, and mementos in honor of those depicted.

In 2018, the memorial expanded to include “The Silent Battle,” a life-sized bronze sculpture portraying a grieving warrior holding a friend’s dog tag — symbolizing the struggles many veterans face with mental health and suicide.

The Eyes of Freedom exhibit will again be displayed at the 2025 Circleville Pumpkin Show, October 15–18, inside Memorial Hall, 165 E. Main Street, Circleville.
