LANCASTER — Emergency crews responded Monday morning to Rising Park after an 18-year-old male fell from the top of the bluff, triggering a high-angle technical rescue.

The Lancaster Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 9:43 a.m., reporting an injured person at the base of Mount Pleasant, located at 1120 North High Street. Responding units from Lancaster Police, Lancaster Fire, Pleasant Township Fire, and Greenfield Township Fire quickly located the individual on the mountainside. Preliminary information indicates the fall was intentional.

The 18-year-old male was safely brought down and flown by Air Evac to a Columbus-area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. During the rescue, two Lancaster Fire personnel sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Fairfield Medical Center.

Officials urged residents to avoid the area around Rising Park while emergency operations were underway.

“The scene required a coordinated effort due to the challenging terrain,” a Lancaster Fire Department spokesperson said. “We are thankful that everyone involved received prompt medical attention, and we appreciate the support of all responding agencies.”

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not released the names of those involved.
