COLUMBUS, Ohio — State Representative Mark Johnson (R-Chillicothe) is applauding the launch of Ohio’s new Child Care Cred Program, a statewide initiative designed to expand access to affordable childcare and strengthen the workforce.
The program, which Johnson championed during the budget process, received a $10 million investment in the state’s upcoming fiscal years 2026–27 budget. It aims to ease the financial strain many families face while also helping employers retain and support workers.
“I am proud to be one of the many partners who collaborated on advancing this important initiative through House Bill 2 and the Budget,” Johnson said. “The rising cost of childcare has placed a heavy burden on Ohio families, and while much work remains, this is an opportunity to build stronger partnerships between families and businesses.”
To qualify, families must reside in Ohio and employers must be based in the state. Applications for participation are open now and will remain available until May 1, 2026.
More details about eligibility and how to apply can be found on the program’s official website.
