CHILLICOTHE, OH — September 5, 2025 — Circleville High School marched away with the top prize at Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center’s 17th Annual Battle of the Bands, earning first place with a powerful performance of Long Train Running.
The win marks Circleville’s return to the competition after missing last year’s event, and their comeback was met with roaring applause from what organizers say was the largest crowd in years.
Unioto High School secured second place with a dramatic rendition of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, while Chillicothe High School—last year’s back-to-back champion—took third with a spirited performance from Pirates of the Caribbean.
“This event is one of the highlights of our school year,” said Janet Barrows, Career Development Coordinator and event organizer at Pickaway-Ross. “It’s exciting to see our partner schools bring so much energy and talent to our campus, and the support from families and community members makes it even more special.”
Bands from Adena, Chillicothe, Circleville, Huntington, Southeastern, Paint Valley, Unioto, Westfall, and Zane Trace all participated, showcasing their school spirit and musical talent.
Pickaway-Ross CTC, which serves students from 10 partner districts across Ross and Pickaway counties, uses the annual competition to celebrate music, creativity, and community pride.
