CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Circleville Municipal Court Probation Department announced that its entire staff has successfully completed specialized training through the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute.
On August 14, 2025, probation officers completed the Effective Practices in Community Supervision (EPICS) program, a nationally recognized model that blends research-based correctional strategies with modern approaches to community supervision.
The training emphasized structured offender sessions, targeting higher-risk individuals, addressing behavior and thought patterns linked to criminal activity, and using cognitive-behavioral methods to encourage positive change.
The three-day session, hosted in Circleville, also included probation officers from Pickaway County Common Pleas Court and Chillicothe Municipal Court. Over the next five months, participating officers will receive ongoing coaching and evaluation from the University of Cincinnati to reinforce what they learned.
“Our department is committed to providing high-quality programming and interventions that create real, lasting change for those placed on community control,” said Chief Probation Officer Jason McGowan.
