CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (Aug. 22, 2025) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 24-year-old Chillicothe man Friday night in Springfield Township, Ross County.
According to investigators, the crash happened around 9:44 p.m. on Narrows Road, about three-quarters of a mile south of Marietta Road.
Troopers said a 2001 Acura CL, driven by Ryan D. Thompson, 24, of Chillicothe, was traveling southeast when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went off the left side of the road, overturned, and ejected Thompson.
He was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where he later died from his injuries.
Narrows Road was closed for about three hours while crews worked the scene. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Springfield Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township EMS, and the Ross County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
