UPDATE – Ross County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Shooting on Patton Hill Road

ROSS COUNTY — A Ross County man was hospitalized Wednesday evening after being shot during a disturbance involving an intoxicated neighbor armed with a shotgun.

According to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. on August 13 to the 2600 block of Patton Hill Road following reports that a male subject was threatening neighbors with a firearm.

While deputies were en route, dispatchers received an update that the man, had been struck by gunfire. Witnesses at the scene told authorities the shooter was Richard “Richie” Johnson, who fled in a silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling at a high rate of speed toward State Route 772.

Deputy Morgan arrived to find the man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to his abdomen and leg. The deputy applied a tourniquet to his upper thigh to slow heavy bleeding until medical personnel arrived.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

The Ross County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect remains under investigation, and additional details will be released as they become available.
