LANCASTER, Ohio — Big wheels, little bikes, and even hippity hops will take over The Mill Event Center on September 6 as the community comes together to raise money for two local nonprofits hit hard by recent flooding.

The event, dubbed “A Wheel Good Time for Wheelie Good Causes,” kicks off at 2 p.m. and will benefit the Lancaster Festival and Harcum House.

Participants can expect a full afternoon of playful competition, including big wheel races, little bike obstacle courses, and hippity hop challenges. The day will wrap up with a grand finale race, with prizes for the fastest team and the best costumes.

Brad Hutchinson, local entrepreneur and owner of Company Wrench, dreamed up the idea less than a week ago. “This is going to be a day for adults to come and play like kids for a few hours, have some fun, and raise some money for two really important organizations,” Hutchinson said.

Teams of five can register at www.wheeliegoodcause.com for $100 through midnight on September 4. Day-of registration will be $150, pending availability. Helmets are required.

Spectators are encouraged to attend and bring cash for extra fundraising opportunities, including a 50/50 raffle and pull tabs. Food, non-alcoholic drinks, and a cash bar will be available.

Organizers are still seeking sponsors and donations to boost the fundraiser’s impact.

“Wanna race?” Hutchinson teased. “Get your team together and join us on September 6!”
